Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a senior executive,or an aspiring professional, Rhino Business Toastmasters Club offers a unique mix of speaking and leadership activities that can help you build confidence and the skills to succeed in the workplace. As part of Toastmasters International, we have the support of the local and international communities, but our uniquely talented members bring their own business-oriented focus to the Toastmasters experience.

As a Rhino, you can expect to:

  • Overcome your fear of public speaking in a friendly and supportive environment.

  • Think on your feet.

  • Provide and receive feedback.

  • Gain leadership experience.

Rhino Business Toastmasters Club meets online weekly on Tuesdays .

The “Rhinoceros Business Club” was founded in 1997 by Jinsoo Terry, who immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1985. Undaunted by the challenges of navigating a foreign landscape, Jinsoo forged ahead. Today, she is an acclaimed motivational speaker and founder of the Jinsoo Terry Global Leadership training program. She continues to be an active member in the club and serves as an inspiration.

The mission of The Rhinoceros Business Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop stronger communication and leadership skills.

“Before joining Rhino I had no idea how much I would learn about communication and leadership. I have picked up countless tips and skills from this dedicated and friendly group.

Perhaps the most valuable thing I’ve learned is how to inspire and motivate others – a completely different skillset from the project management methods I learn at work.”

Lea Dandan - President

Nuck Fuzer - VP of Education

Karina Hon - VP of Membership

Karina is passionate about changing people's perception of HR by improving productivity, company culture and creating happiness.  She is currently in healthcare but looking to pivot into tech.  Joining Rhino Toastmasters has challenged me to become a better speaker, communicate more effectively, embrace leadership and created a community of support and friendship.  And one fun fact about me is that I am a certified scuba diver and I got my open water certification in Tahiti.

Alexis Yup - VP of Public Relations

Alexis became passionate about transforming America's healthcare system as a former premedical student. She fell in love with pageantry as a mechanism for personal development and opportunity to give back to her community. She was crowned Miss Asian San Francisco in 2017 and is the current reigning Miss Chinatown USA 2nd Princess 2020. She is hoping that Rhino Toastmasters will help to prepare her to eloquently pitch to investors as an entrepreneur in the future.

Lili Zhang - Sergeant at Arms

Lili has been a Toastmasters member since 2018, joining her first club as an undergraduate student at UCSD. After returning to San Francisco, she decided to join Rhino Business Toastmasters in 2020. One of her favorite things about the Rhino family is its welcoming members and their sense of humor. Rhino has helped her become a more creative and eloquent communicator and leader within and outside of Toastmasters. She also practices her communication skills in Spanish and reads all sort of books during her free time.

Prateek Jain - Secretary

Prateek works with architects and builders to reduce the environmental footprint of buildings while also making them healthy and comfortable spaces for occupants. He's convinced himself that this helps him do his bit towards combating climate change, which apparently gives him the license to sound pompous about his work. Like everyone else, he joined Rhino primarily to improve public speaking and leadership skills, but he stays for how it keeps him grounded (see note about pomposity above) through honest feedback provided weekly, and the learning opportunities from superior orators. Prateek considers himself to be a #NerdAndPround (again with the pomposity) and his colleagues somewhat correctly suspect that he keeps harmless-but-weird lists of their characteristics.

Stefanie Chow - Treasurer

Stefanie joined Toastmasters in August 2013, and the journey has led her to professionally speaking in front of thousands and even delivering stand-up routines at small comedy clubs across California. She currently lives in Denver, CO with her husband (who she met in Rhino Business Toastmasters) and their two huskies, found on Instagram at @OzTheHusky. Stefanie stays involved with Rhino remotely because of the tight-knit community and the incredible drive and diverse talent that exists within the club.
